GACTE is now accepting proposals for General Interest Sessions for the 2019 Conference.  General Interest Sessions will be offered on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16. They will be offered in a two-hour time block or a one-hour session.
General Interest Sessions should focus on the GADOE CTAE Strategic Plan.  The plan has four priorities and your presentation should focus on one of these.  Sessions can be targeted to a specific pathway or for all conference attendees.  You can view the entire Strategic Plan at:
Priorities and Suggested Topics:
Priority 1-Georgia’s Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education will change perceptions of its career focused programs
Example Topics-Best practices in CTAE, Alumni success stories, Best practices in branding and marketing, innovative programs, academics integration in CTAE, business advisory councils, apprenticeship/WBL, dual enrollment, college and career academies, special populations
Priority 2-We will provide Georgia students access to quality career counseling and development throughout grades K-12.
Example Topics-Best practices in Career Counseling and Development, YouScience, career development integration in the curriculum, effective career advisement strategies
Priority 3-Teachers and counselors are central to student success in CTAE; therefore, we will prioritize increased teacher and counselor recruitment, retention, and professional development efforts
Example Topics- Professional development for new teachers, best practices in CTSOs, teacher externships, back to industry events, curriculum resources, instructional technology and integration, teacher certification programs, best practices in recruitment and retainment of teachers
Priority 4-In order for CTAE and students to be successful long term, it is imperative that we expand CTAE opportunities and teach employability skills throughout grades K-12
Example Topics-K-12 CTAE Alignment, vertical alignment between middle and high, elementary CTAE, employability skills, career guidance in middle and high schools, middle school curriculum and resources
